Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide finally revealed live

The wait for the next generation of foldable smartphones signed by Samsung is coming to an end, with the official launch expected for July.

The rumors circulating for weeks indicate the unveiling of two distinct variants: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the higher-end model, named Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

The first of the two, which is expected to be the most affordable price-wise, has recently made its first unofficial appearance in the real world.

Some images, taken inside a restaurant in South Korea and subsequently published on a local online forum, offer an early look at the device, confirming the rumors circulating in the previous months.

Despite the quality of the leaked shots being quite low, the photos allow a clear view of an evolution over previous generations.

In one image, the phone rests on a table, wrapped in a protective cover that partly conceals its details but not its overall proportions. The second photo, meanwhile, shows the smartphone in use, highlighting a rear camera setup based on a dual-sensor arrangement.

What stands out most is the form factor: the new device appears distinctly wider and shorter than its predecessors.

This characteristic is not exactly surprising, as it aligns perfectly with the CAD-based renderings that emerged online some time ago.

Interestingly, due to these atypical proportions for the series, it was thought the product might debut under the name Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. However, more recent reports indicate that the South Korean company has opted to keep the classic designation, simply calling it Galaxy Z Fold 8.

High-end performance and top-tier specifications

Under the hood, the hardware of the new foldable is shaping up to be top-of-the-line. The leaked specifications so far sketch a profile centered around the innovative processor Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a chip designed specifically to optimize efficiency and power for Samsung devices.

This processing unit will work in tandem with 12 GB of RAM and internal storage starting from 256 GB, ensuring ample space and responsiveness for any operation.

Regarding autonomy, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery. For comparison, the Ultra variant will benefit from a slightly larger cell, reaching 5,000 mAh to best support the model’s exclusive features.

The camera department and differences with the Ultra model

The imaging sector remains another area of great interest for both upcoming models this summer.

Latest information reveals that both the standard version and the Ultra edition will feature a main camera of a whopping 200 MP with optical image stabilization, paired with a 50 MP ultrawide camera. For selfies and video calls, the manufacturer plans to implement two distinct 10 MP front cameras.

The real difference between the two variants will lie in the additional photographic equipment: the Ultra model will boast an extra 10 MP telephoto lens capable of delivering 3x optical zoom, an element absent in the rear dual-sensor configuration of the base model just seen live.
