Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8: Display Compared, How Things Will Change

An image published by the leaker Ice Universe compares the protective screen protectors of Samsung’s upcoming flagship foldables. The differences are staggering, further accentuated by the major novelty we should find with this generation.

For the first time the clamshell foldable will split into Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, the first equipped with a wide format and the second characterized by the usual style. Alongside them, also the “small” Galaxy Z Flip 8, an indispensable model for the summer lineup.

Starting with the clamshell foldable, the phone’s outer display appears unchanged: we expect a large 4.1″ Full View panel interrupted in the top-left corner by the dual-camera module with LED flash.

On the far end we find Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: the company’s move could prove counterproductive since the flagship would have nothing Ultra about it. It would be the classic foldable clamshell, or rather the model of this generation. The comparison with the other two devices makes the aesthetic differences even more evident and the torpedo-shaped form that has accompanied us for years.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 For Galaxy, a 200 MP camera and 5,000 mAh: the big novelty would be this last one, certainly a step forward from the 4,400 mAh of Z Fold 7.

The real surprise would be the mid-range phone: the new Galaxy Z Fold 8, known in the months as Z Fold 8 Wide. The device introduces for the first time in the series the 4:3 wide format, similar to the recent Huawei Pura X Max. It looks like a passport and once opened it resembles more a small tablet than a foldable. The result? Yes, the design is chunkier than the classic Fold but it gains in terms of manageability during use; and then it is a format that better suits multitasking.

Samsung has not yet confirmed the launch date but according to leaks the summer Unpacked event will be held on 22 July in London.
