During May, the Korean company began releasing One UI 8.5 for all supported devices — both domestically and globally, Italy included. This is a mid-cycle update, but despite that it introduced important new features in terms of aesthetics as well as with regard to the interface customization and AI-related functionalities.
However, for some owners of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 things do not seem to have gone completely smoothly: several users on Reddit complain about a drop in battery life performance, and the blame could be a bug in the new software.
According to what emerged from the post published on Reddit — you can find it in the source — the battery life of Samsung’s latest foldable flagship would have undergone a sharp drop right after the update to One UI 8.5. After a major update, usually the device needs to recalibrate, but apparently this is not the case.
However, the rate of battery drain seems to vary by device: some report half the battery life, while in other cases the situation would be even more critical; there are users who complain about the need to charge the foldable up to twice a day.
Remember that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is powered by a 4,400 mAh battery: it’s worth noting that it’s not exactly a benchmark for endurance (as seen in our review). Nevertheless the phone comfortably lasts a day of standard use, but user reports indicate critical situations.
As of writing, the cause of this severe battery drain is not yet clear; a bug can’t be ruled out, but for now there is silence and there are no official statements from Samsung. Have you noticed a change in your Galaxy Z Fold 7’s battery life, or is everything running smoothly after the One UI 8.5 update?
