RedMagic has officially confirmed the launch of its upcoming tablet, which will debut on the Chinese market by the end of the current month under the name of RedMagic Tablet 5 Pro.
As for international sales, the information currently available indicates that the device will arrive as RedMagic Astra 2.
This choice is coherently aligned with the strategy already adopted with the previous model, launched globally as RedMagic Astra but originally distributed in its homeland as Tablet 3 Pro. The evident numerical leap, which completely omits the digit four, stems from tetraphobia, a widespread cultural aversion to this number rooted in several Asian countries.
The recent certifications obtained by the Chinese regulatory authorities, together with the details disclosed by the well-known informant Digital Chat Station on the social network Weibo, outline an extremely ambitious hardware landscape.
The processor chosen to handle the most intensive calculation operations is the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. To keep operating temperatures at optimal levels during prolonged gaming sessions, the company has chosen to integrate an advanced liquid cooling system.
To support the central processing unit, there are high-capacity memory options: buyers will be able to opt for configurations starting from 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, to move to versions with 16 GB of RAM paired with 512 GB or 1 TB of internal storage, up to reaching an extreme variant equipped with as much as 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
The tablet will feature a OLED panel 9″, with a refresh rate of 185 Hz, designed specifically to ensure maximum responsiveness and smoothness in competitive titles.
From an aesthetic point of view, RedMagic has decided to maintain its strongly distinctive visual identity, proposing a transparent design enriched by an elegant RGB LED system.
To provide the energy needed to support such hardware, there is an 8,300 mAh battery. Official certification documents have also confirmed support for a 80 W wired fast charging technology, which will allow users to restore the charge in considerably shorter times.
Considering the company’s usual speed in distributing its products beyond Asian borders following the initial release, it is highly likely that the device will make its official appearance on international markets as early as the end of this month or, at the latest, during the month of July.
