OPPO Find N7 vs Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Ultra: will it be the wide foldables showdown

Over the past few months we have talked a lot about the new format of foldable smartphones: dubbed by Huawei Pura X Max, the form factor wide introduces a book-style design with 4:3 screens. The end result is a device similar to a small tablet, wider than a standard phone but with a greater propensity for usability and multitasking.

All major manufacturers will move in this direction and now we have some more details also on the proposal from OPPO: the future Find N7 will adopt the wide format, while the launch is expected in the first months of 2027.

Rumors from China talk about a wide foldable smartphone with an internal screen of 7.6″ diagonal, accompanied by an external panel around the 5.5″. The supplies would have been entrusted to both Samsung Display and BOE.

Clearly it would be a flagship, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 on board: Qualcomm’s next chipset is still unreleased, but we already know that it will be built on a 2 nm process and will have as its core the latest-generation Oryon, with a high-performance CPU and an upgraded Elite Gen 6 Pro version.

The latest Find N6 has stood out for its large screen, free of visible crease, thanks to hinge improvements. The next OPPO Find N7 will also benefit from these technologies, and the insider Digital Chat Station hints that it could do even better than the current model.

The launch would be scheduled for the first quarter of 2027: with the summer release of Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and the possible autumn debut of iPhone Ultra (the Cupertino foldable) the doors to the wide revolution open. According to analysts this format will be successful and will conquer the market: not by chance other brands are also moving in this direction 53 like Xiaomi, vivo and even Honor.
