September looks set to be the Infinity War of the mobile industry: Cupertino will announce the new iPhone 18 but the Chinese response will be fierce. The rival par excellence, Xiaomi 18, is a given; however in recent days there have been intensified rumors of a super-busy month, with almost all Asian brands ready to launch their respective solutions. The only name missing from the lineup was OnePlus 16 and now insider Digital Chat Station anticipates its probable presence, and it will not arrive alone.
In the latest post on Weibo, the leaker talks about OnePlus 16 and iQOO 16: both flagships would be on track for arrival in September, clearly for the Chinese market. For their Global variants, patience is required, but given that everything is moving ahead of the usual timelines, it may be that there isn’t too long to wait.
It’s the same insider who announces that it will be a busy month: the Redmi K100 series is expected in the third quarter, but Xiaomi could opt for a later launch (in October) to avoid cannibalizing sales. The unveiling of Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max is a given but Digital Chat Station says rivals have pressed on the accelerator: also the vivo X500 and OPPO Find X10 should make their appearance in the same period.
All in all, OnePlus 16 is just the latest addition to an explosive calendar. The flagship from Pete Lau’s house has been the subject of various rumors that paint an exciting picture: symmetric bezels, a 185 Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, an extra-large battery and a camera that for the first time opens up to 200 MP.
