iPhone 18 Pro Max shown in Dark Cherry and it’s stunning

The anticipation for the usual September unveiling is growing, and the latest information that has emerged about future Apple devices offers an intriguing look at the company’s aesthetic decisions.

After the introduction of the Cosmic Orange variant on last year’s models, rumors converge unanimously on a new and fascinating option for the upcoming iPhones: the color Dark Cherry.

This specific shade, reserved exclusively for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, is proving to be one of the most successful design choices ever.

If today the mobile phone market often offers extremely subtle finishes or too bold ones, this dark cherry color sits right at the exact middle of these extremes.

It manages to preserve the same formal elegance of classic black devices, while adding a touch of character that does not feel overly intrusive.

The exterior appearance becomes even more important when you closely examine the planned commercial strategy for this generation. Several sources indicate that the 18 Pro series represents a transitional moment for the California-based giant.

Expectations for integrating a hidden Face ID under the display and for a smaller Dynamic Island seem to clash with design delays, pushing these novelties to models in coming years.

Consequently, press attention will most likely be dominated by the unprecedented and highly anticipated foldable iPhone Ultra. In this context, the company largely relies on new external finishes to capture consumer curiosity and provide a strong incentive to purchase the traditional Pro models.

Despite the undeniable beauty of the design, the new smartphones will unfortunately have to contend with some physical limits inherited directly from the previous generation.

The use of the same aluminum chassis suggests that the phones will still be fairly vulnerable to dents and scratches, even after impacts or drops from modest heights.

Additionally, the latest investigations suggest that the shell could exhibit the same premature color fading defects already reported by some users on the iPhone 17 Pro.
