iPhone Air 2 Will Be Delayed Again, But It Will Be Worth the Wait

In recent hours, a rumor circulating for months has become more tangible: Apple’s autumn event will feature only the Pro models (with the addition of the foldable Ultra) while iPhone 18 base will debut in spring.

The small member of the family won’t be alone: as reported by Bloomberg and by a well-known Chinese insider, in the early months of 2027 there will also be room for iPhone Air 2. Despite the flop of the first chapter, it might be worth waiting for Cupertino’s ultra-thin follow-up, given the alleged improvements.

Based on what has emerged so far, iPhone Air 2 would be known internally by the codename V62 while the debut is expected to take place in the first quarter of the year. It will most likely be announced together with iPhone 18 and 18e, but we must wait to learn all of the company’s plans.

The smartphone should not change much in terms of design: once again there would be an ultra-thin chassis (the current model is 5.64 mm thick), but with significant under-the-hood improvements.

The most important novelty concerns the camera: this time there would be a dual camera, with the addition of a ultra-wide-angle lens. According to insider Digital Chat Station we should have a solution of 48 + 48 MP, a significant leap forward compared to the predecessor.

The first iPhone Air debuted with the A19 Pro chipset: for the successor we are aiming at the new A20 Pro by Apple, built at 2 nm. It will be the SoC of iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, so expectations are sky-high.

An ultra-thin thickness automatically imposes battery limits: currently the Air model uses a 3,149 mAh unit but things should change. The Chinese leaker talks of a significant battery improvement, but unfortunately does not cite numbers.

In short, these are novelties that could make the new device more appealing. The price remains the unknown: remember that the first Air starts from €1,239 list price (currently costs €899 at MediaWorld).
