As with the flagship series, Xiaomi’s mid-range will also undergo a generational leap, moving from the 15 family to the Redmi Note 17 family. The confirmation came from a certification while details about the lineup’s youngest member have emerged. Redmi 17 5G will be the first smartphone of the new generation to debut in the global market. The launch? It seems there won’t be too long to wait.
The exact date is not official, but an insider revealed a few additional details – still awaiting confirmation. The June 18, Xiaomi should announce Redmi Turbo 5 in India: nothing earth-shattering since we already know the device, arrived with us as POCO X8 Pro. It remains to be seen whether the Indian variant will introduce differences or stay faithful to Chinese Turbo 5 and to the Global twin branded POCO.
On the same day, Lei Jun’s company should also announce the first budget phone of the Redmi 17 series: according to what has been revealed we should have 5G connectivity support, an LCD screen and a Snapdragon 4-series chipset. Among other features, a large 7,000 mAh battery and a camera setup with a 50 MP main sensor and an 8 MP selfie camera emerge.
In fact, it has already been discussed previously about this budget device: it should mount the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 platform and debut with different names depending on the market – such as Redmi 17 5G or POCO M8 Plus 5G.
According to the details gathered so far, the phone will also have a variant in China called Redmi Note 17R (code 26021RN18C, the Indian one appears as 26021RN18I). Finally, an LTE model – Redmi 17 4G – is also planned but for now there are no leaks about its release.
