May will bring a slew of novelties for Lei Jun’s company, on both the Chinese and international fronts. Here in our neck of the woods, the launch of Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro is expected, while users in China (the lucky ones) will receive Xiaomi 17 Max, a device that promises stellar capabilities. And now some novelties have emerged for both, and perhaps a Global version of the Max model is also on the horizon.
Rumors come from insider Yogesh Brar, a figure who has proven reliable on several occasions. Still, it’s wise to take everything with caution, at least until official confirmation from the brand. Regarding the launch of Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro, the release is expected for May 28: the event should be global, thus referring to both the Indian market and the Western one.
The new Xiaomi 17T series smartphones have already been the protagonists of a slew of leaks, including render images and details on possible prices. Both phones would have a design similar to the 17 series, with a square camera module, straight edges and flat displays with a centered hole for the selfie camera.
As is traditional for the T family, the SoCs would be handled by MediaTek: specifically the Dimensity 8500 Ultra and the Dimensity 9500, the latter destined for the bigger brother.
Leica cameras would not be missing, with Leica 50 MP main Light Fusion 800 sensors, an ultra-wide and a telephoto lens (standard for the base and periscope for the Pro variant).
The insider hints at another potential development, but his words still appear uncertain. The company is reportedly evaluating bringing the Xiaomi 17 Max to Global markets, including India. Europe isn’t mentioned: there are many questions, yet the Max model would be a high-end addition to the Western flagship lineup.
The newXiaomi 17 Max will be announced in China in May and the confirmed features already point to a must-have: compared to the base version there will be a larger display (from 6.9″), a battery of 8,000 mAh and a refreshed main camera, with a 200 MP sensor – always with Leica optics.
