The Chinese company will launch a compact vlogging camera with an integrated gimbal: this is a rumor that has been circulating for some time and which is expected to materialize this very year. vivo Pocket, the possible name of the device, has been the subject of new leaks: the brand’s expertise in photography could be a major advantage for the upcoming gimbal camera, but it certainly will not lack a sensor of considerable quality.
The latest updates come from Digital Chat Station: the Chinese insider has repeatedly teased about vivo’s compact camera and now offers some additional details. First of all, the name should be vivo Pocket, underscoring the form factor designed for maximum portability.
Turning to the specs, it seems the prototype of the camera is equipped with a Sony LYT-901 200 MP sensor with a 1/1.1″ size. Additionally, the leaker claims that the device was designed with a hardware approach similar to that used for imaging systems of high-end smartphones.
This means we will be dealing with a flagship product, not a budget solution.
Regarding the camera’s debut there are two threads of rumors: on one hand, there are rumors of a September launch, together with the vivo X500 series. However, the latest rumors suggest that mass production will begin in October, with a presentation scheduled for the fourth quarter of the year.
The initial supply would be around 1 million units: this means the Chinese brand has high expectations for both the product category and its new jewel.
At the moment vivo wouldn’t be the only Chinese brand interested in the gimbal camera sector. In recent weeks there have also been hints about a model from OPPO, code-named Fuyao. It also seems that <strong Huawei and Honor are at work, but the debut is expected in 2027.
