For several generations now, Samsung has been using MediaTek chipsets on its high-end tablets. Things shouldn’t change even with the upcoming family of devices, and now comes a kind of confirmation for the series Galaxy Tab S12, thanks to one of the tech giant’s proprietary apps.
The implicated app is AI Core, which handles various AI-related functionalities, also associated with the chipset. Within the software code — analyzed by Android Authority colleagues — references to a MediaTek-branded chipset emerged.
The name isnt mentioned, but the acronym is enough: the SoC MT6993 is none other than the Dimensity 9500, the current flagship processor from the Taiwanese chipmaker. The inside of the app does not cite the device that will mount this solution, but given the precedents it is clear that these are the new tablets.
Current models of the Galaxy Tab S11 family run the Dimensity 9400+ and, going further back, with the Galaxy Tab S11 we find the 9400+. Going further back, with the Galaxy Tab S10, we find the 9300+. So the most probable candidates, arriving in the coming months, are Samsung Galaxy Tab S12+ and S12 Ultra.
The tablets’ debut is expected in the third quarter of the year, perhaps at the start of September. In the meantime some details on the batteries have already leaked, which are expected to reach 10,500/10,600 mAh. Below youelt find a preview of the Galaxy Tab S12+ leak specs.
