Following the rumors that have featured the new flagship of the Japanese company, now finally Sony Xperia 1 VIII has an official release date. The next Xperia event is set for the month of May and there is really little time left; moreover Sony has also confirmed the change of look of the Camera Phone, arriving with a refreshed aesthetic (after several generations without major changes).
The launch event will be held on the 13 May: there is talk of a presentation for a new product in the series, but given the volume of leaks it is clear that the curtain will rise on Sony Xperia 1 VIII. In addition, there are also expected news in the photographic field, such as the full-frame A7R VI camera and the new 100-400 mm f/4.5.
As for the smartphone, the new device in the range is expected with a change of look: the usual vertical camera module will give way to a squared island, housing a triple sensor array. It seems we will have a new telephoto lens, along with a 16 mm ultra-wide and a 24 mm wide-angle.
There is talk of up to two days of battery life, but for now there are no clues about battery capacity. In recent days the flagship appeared on Geekbench with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 12 GB of RAM. Finally it seems that even this time the 3.5 mm audio jack will not be missing, which has now disappeared completely from the top tier.
Recently there has also been talk about the possible price of Sony Xperia 1 VIII, with an eye-watering figure (but doubts remain about it).
