Lenovo returns to making Gaming Phones with the new Legion Y70 | Official

In recent years Lenovo has dabbled in the Gaming Phone sector, with some devices quite interesting (also launched in Italy).Legion Duel and Duel 2 have debuted with a fresh style, an aggressive and futuristic design not for everyone but unique in its kind. But in 2022 the stop arrived, with the company deciding to focus exclusively on more lucrative sectors (PCs and portable devices).

Things have changed recently: technologies for mobile gaming are now part of the sector and often manufacturers venture into mid-range phones, without using polarizing designs.

It is precisely this that the new Lenovo Legion Y70 (2026) does: a Gaming Phone that stands out for its style, but not with excess. Better to focus on a solid technical spec, an advanced cooling system and an aggressive price — at the moment available only in China.

The aesthetics of Lenovo Legion Y70 draw heavily from Motorola, a subsidiary of the Chinese company. The Legion logo in the center of the chassis calls the device’s identity, but otherwise it exudes an atmosphere of a traditional smartphone. No LED lights, nor sharp edges and aggressive lines: straight lines, a flat screen with a centered hole for the selfie camera and two sober color options (black and white-silver).

The display is a 6.8″ OLED diagonal with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, a peak brightness of up to 7,000 nits and Dolby Vision support. Rather than targeting the premium tier, Lenovo chooses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (not Elite) with 12/16 GB of RAM LPDDR5X and UFS 4.1 storage (256/512 GB).

The 8,000 mAh battery offers a claimed two-day endurance; both 90W ultra-fast charging and reverse charging (useful for charging other devices by using the phone as a power bank) are on offer.

Un indispensabile sistema di raffreddamento a liquido con vapor chamber (da 5.500 mm2, con una marcia in più che strizza l’occhio a REDMAGIC). No, there is no built-in fan, but the system also includes a portion with liquid metal positioned near the chipset.

The camera system consists of a pair of sensors: the main 50 MP sensor is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide, while the front houses the 32 MP selfie camera.

The new Lenovo Legion Y70 (2026) has debuted in China in Ice Soul White and Carbon Black colors, with prices starting at 3,099 yuan – about 392€ at the current exchange rate. At the moment the launch is dedicated only to this market and we do not know if there will be a Global version; in the past Lenovo brought its Gaming Phones to Italy as well, so we await possible news.
