Lenovo Legion Y70: plenty of power and an extra-large battery, for the new Gaming Phone

On May 19 will mark the return of the manufacturer to the gaming smartphone sector, after a pause of about four years. The new Lenovo Legion Y70 (2026) will debut in China and at the moment it is not known yet whether it will arrive in international markets.

Awaiting the launch event, the first leaks about the specifications are starting to arrive as well, outlining the profile of a Gaming Phone with all the hallmarks. Plenty of power (with a Snapdragon chipset), a large display and a capacious battery: this is Lenovo’s formula for a big comeback.

The aesthetics of Lenovo Legion Y70 (2026) have already been confirmed, along with the date of the May event. For the new device, the brand opted for a sober design, with a chassis that seems to be completely borrowed from the latest Motorola smartphones. The Squircle camera module houses a triple-sensor array and the LED flash, while the Legion logo occupies the central portion of the back cover.

No LED lights and no extravagant design (in the style of Legion Duel), but an approach that normalizes Gaming Phones rather than exaggerating the aggressive and futuristic character of the category.

Regarding the specifications, the latest leaks talk of a large flat display of 6.8″ diagonal, with 2K resolution and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The Y70 model would be positioned in the high-end segment, thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5: no Elite version, a choice that could allow a very respectable price-to-performance ratio.

The cooling system would be top-level, with a 5,500 mm2 vapor chamber, a section with liquid metal (in the style of the latest REDMAGIC devices) and a section with thermal gel. On the autonomy side, powering it all would be a battery of 8,000 mAh with support for wired fast charging at 90W.

In short, the new Lenovo Legion Y70 looks quite interesting: we await the May 19 event to learn the price, but above all we look to the future (and to a possible global release).
