While much of the media attention seems to have been absorbed by the imminent debut of Apple’s first eagerly awaited foldable device, the latest rumors allow us to observe up close the future iPhone 18 Pro.
The reliable informant Sonny Dickson has recently released images of some dummies that accurately preview the aesthetic of Cupertino’s upcoming flagship, revealing a color palette composed of four distinct options.
The images indeed show a sober dark gray, a classic and bright silver, a delicate blue variant, and a considerably bolder cherry-colored finish, identified with the label “Dark Cherry“.
It is precisely this last shade that proves the most fascinating of the entire range and could easily match the commercial success achieved by the highly acclaimed Cosmic Orange seen on the previous generation.
Beyond these new and appealing hues, however, the overall setup of the smartphone reveals a deep continuity with the recent past. The manufacturer has indeed decided to preserve the rear chassis design, including the horizontal camera bar introduced just 12 months ago.
The sources close to the production chain indicate that the new smartphone will be slightly taller, wider and thicker than its predecessor. This increase in volume, though minimal, suggests the implementation of a larger battery, ensuring extended autonomy to satisfy the most demanding users.
The camera department will also undergo a slight evolution. The rear block destined to house the cameras will register a thickness increase of 3%, with the individual optical modules occupying a larger surface area, protruding more than in the past.
It is interesting to note how finely these adjustments have been calculated to the point that one might think that protective cases purchased for the previous generation may still fit the new iPhone perfectly.
On the front panel, however, there will be a welcome novelty: for the first time in four years, the interactive area of the Dynamic Island will undergo a noticeable downsizing, freeing up valuable screen space.
The decision not to radically change the appearance of this specific device makes the most logical sense when looking at the current strategies of the California-based company. All major efforts in terms of aesthetic innovation seem to be focused on the talked-about foldable iPhone Ultra foldable.
Although this new form factor arrives on the market with seven full years of delay compared to the earliest alternatives from the competition, it represents the year’s real gamble.
With an MSRP rumored to be near $2,000, it is evident that the company wants to push its audience toward this new top-tier, effectively relegating the Pro variant to a secondary flagship role.
Offering a conservative aesthetic update for traditional smartphones is therefore a sensible and widely predictable move, especially considering that the well-established company has never had the habit of radically renewing the aesthetics of its products on an annual basis.
