Apple has announced the availability in Italy of the “Hearing Aid” feature: this novelty arrives via a software update and concerns the Cupertino company’s flagship earbuds. AirPods Pro 3 and Pro 2 become a useful tool that improves the quality of life, with the practicality of a pair of earbuds.
The procedure to use AirPods Pro 3 and Pro 2 as a “Hearing Aid” is extremely simple: after pairing the earbuds with a compatible iPhone or iPad, simply activate the feature to begin the hearing test. This takes about 5 minutes to complete and allows users to make dynamic and personalized adjustments, in order to improve the clarity of external sounds in real time.
The new personalized hearing profile is then applied to all content (music, movies, games and calls). The test provides a summary with a value indicating the hearing loss for each ear, along with an audiogram, all stored in the Health app.
Also there is the “Hearing Protection” feature that helps the user limit exposure to loud ambient noises without altering the sound characteristics.
It should be noted that this novelty does not turn AirPods Pro 3 and Pro 2 into a true hearing aid: it is a feature intended for those with a mild issue. Nevertheless, the software is regulated and approved in the EU as a Class IIa medical device.
