The Chinese company is about to launch a new generation of mid-range flagship devices, together with a Redmi tablet. It isn’t insiders or leaks revealing it, but the brand’s official site: on a support page the unmistakable names of Xiaomi 17T, 17T Pro, Redmi Pad 2 9.7 and even a 4G version of the latter appear. In short, we can say with certainty that only an announcement with the date remains!
The slip comes thanks to the support page dedicated to the free 3-month trial of YouTube Premium; the target is the official Xiaomi UK site, which included in the list the upcoming devices. It’s a pity that these are unreleased models and not yet announced by Xiaomi; so far what we’ve seen are leaks.
Clearly this was an error, but as we write the names continue to appear in the list. The next big event from Lei Jun’s house is around the corner and the protagonists will be the pairs Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro, and Redmi Pad 2 9.7 and Pad 2 9.7 4G.
The new T-series smartphones would be based on Redmi K90 Max, the Chinese flagship arriving in April in its homeland. However we expect differences, both with the Asian cousin and between the two devices: we discussed this previously, but for convenience at the end of this article you’ll find a handy comparison between 17T and 17T Pro (based on the rumors so far).
Meanwhile Xiaomi UK has also revealed the existence of Redmi Pad 2 9.7: it should be an alternative version of the current Redmi Pad 2 of 11″, available both with WiFi connectivity and with the addition of 4G. Little is known about this tablet yet, which should have on its side the support for 33W charging (vs 18W of the Pad 2 classic).
We still have to see the release: the launch is around the corner but we still don’t know whether it will happen in April or directly in May.
