We’re back to talking about the upcoming Sony Xperia 1 VIII, the future flagship from the Japanese company. The change of look was teased by some images from a case manufacturer, but now the new CAD renders reveal what the final design could look like—front and back.
Based on what has emerged from the latest images — which show the CAD renders of the next flagship — the Sony Xperia 1 VIII would bring a new design for both the front and the back. The rear cover should change style compared to previous generations, with a square-shaped island that would mark the end of the classic slim vertical layout (in favor of a look very similar to that of OnePlus 10 Pro).
Besides the back, there would also be a shift in direction for the display: the screen seems to adopt again the 21:9 format, compared to the 19.5:9 of the current Xperia 1 VII. According to the previous renders the new flagship was supposed to offer a central punch hole; however the new images correct the course.
The front will have thicker top and bottom bezels, to house both the selfie camera and the stereo speakers (as is traditional for the lineup).
Details on specs are still missing, while for the camera department there are some novelties: we should find the same 48 MP ultra-wide as Xperia 1 VII but the main sensor and the periscope telephoto lens should change.
There are whispers of a new 200 MP camera but for now there is no confirmation; for the launch the target is the month of May (similarly to what happened with its predecessor).
