The vivo Battery Phone with 10,200 mAh is official: is this the future of smartphones?

Over the past few months there has been a lot of talk about next-generation Battery Phones, devices equipped with colossal batteries but with a slim profile thanks to silicon-carbon technology. Once, phones with super batteries were relegated to the rugged category, devices aimed at durability for extreme environments.

Now even a classic smartphone can boast a gigantic unit, up to 10,000 mAh. The latest addition is vivo Y600 Pro, yet another “experiment” that clearly shows what the future of the mobile sector will be.

Clearly at the international level there are still limits: in Europe, legislatively, there are still a few shortcomings and it is the reason why globally smartphones typically arrive with batteries trimmed compared to their Chinese counterparts. However something has started to move and now even here phones with ever-larger capacities are making an appearance.

This is a necessary change, reflecting the new course of events. Several Chinese brands have already launched 10,000 mAh phones: Honor, Realme and now also vivo with the latest Y600 Pro. For now these are devices intended for the Chinese market, but it is clear that Western users are also curious to try these extra-large novelties.

Returning to the latest addition to vivo’s lineup, the main aspect is the enormous 10,200 mAh solution: it is a silicon-carbon battery, a technology that enables higher density without negatively impacting the final thickness. The 80W charging allows the phone to be ready in just 80 minutes, according to the company.

The other specs don’t disappoint: vivo Y600 Pro is a “normal” mid-range, with standard dimensions but with a giant battery under the shell. The display is a 6.83″ AMOLED unit with a 120 Hz refresh rate while performance is entrusted to the Dimensity 7300e; this is an enhanced version (2.5 GHz) of the Dimensity 7100 (2.4 GHz) with which it shares almost all specifications.

The camera system relies on a 50 MP main sensor, with a 32 MP selfie camera. The package is completed by an IP69 body, an under-display fingerprint reader, and Android 16 (via OriginOS 6).

The price of vivo Y600 Pro starts from around €261 at the current exchange rate (2,099 yuan), a tempting figure for a mid-range phone that makes the 10,200 mAh super battery its main claim to fame.
