On one hand, the rumors about the future of OnePlus Global (at risk of closure) are scary, while on the other hand more rumors about the brand’s upcoming innovations continue to surface. Pete Lau’s company has already shown an interest in the mobile gaming sector but would be intent on going far beyond, with a true portable console.
The rumors come from the usual Digital Chat Station, a Chinese insider we know well. The leaker does not comment on the brand’s identity but simply “confirms” that a brand will launch a portable Android console; according to Asian media and users themselves, it would be OnePlus, although for now there is no response from the company.
Returning to the device, the insider continues by stating that it will be a different kind of console: it will not be based on physical controls (so no buttons, D-pads and joysticks) but will offer a new type of interaction. The leaker does not go into too much detail but it is likely that the entire experience will be centered on touch controls — perhaps with additional buttons on the back and rear, we add.
The display would offer precise touch controls, low latency and maximum responsiveness: the device would be geared toward FPS (first-person shooters), a genre where these characteristics make the difference between victory and defeat. It targets PUBG Mobile, a title particularly appreciated in China.
The portable OnePlus console would have high-end specs, system-level optimizations and a large display with a high refresh rate. For now there are no other details and the release date remains a mystery. In the meantime, remember that the debut of OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra, a true gaming flagship killer — according to rumors.
