Once again the Chinese giant has beaten everyone to the punch, as happened with the tri-fold: in recent days Huawei has presented Pura X Max, the first wide-format foldable in the world. Anyway the real challenge will begin in the summer, the period of Samsung’s response: the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide should make its appearance alongside the usual Z Fold and Z Flip and now an insider reveals what the aesthetic and structural differences would be compared to Huawei’s model.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide: let’s take stock of the brand’s first wide foldable
The new wide format introduces new proportions for the foldable category: the aspect ratio in 4:3 certainly yields a chunkier design, but it greatly enhances the user experience. This format, in fact, turns the phone (when opened) into a solution more similar to a traditional tablet.
The insider Ice Universe compared the design of Huawei Pura X Max (recently launched) and the future Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, revealing the precise dimensions and proportions of the latter.

Details on the weight of the Samsung-branded model are missing, but based on what can be inferred, it will be thinner than the Chinese rival. At the moment the leaked specs give us an almost complete overview: there are rumors of 5.4″ and 7.6″ displays as diagonals while under the hood we should find the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 For Galaxy, the same chipset as Galaxy S26 Ultra.
