It’s official: OnePlus will launch a portable console

It seems like a paradox – on the one hand Global crisis is discussed while on the other hand there are new launches – but it isn’t. The situation for the Chinese division seems to be going from strength to strength and the proof is right in the announcement in recent hours, with a teaser. OnePlus is about to launch its first portable console, an Android-based solution that promises to redefine the mobile gaming experience: here’s what we know so far and what we can expect.

Soon Ace 6 Ultra, a stylish Gaming Phone coming to the Chinese market. This isn’t a new move for the brand, which has now chosen the Ultra naming to differentiate itself from other Asian brands. Usually flagship devices with this nomenclature are Camera Phones, but Pete Lau’s company has chosen to aim in a completely different direction.

Clearly the brand has a lot of faith in this sector and its potential, enough to announce a portable console. The device has been confirmed both during a small live event on Chinese social networks, and through several teasers.

The design is still shrouded in mystery, but we know it will be centered on touch controls. At least that’s what is evident from the images, in line with the previous rumors: the OnePlus handheld should offer a dual grip and the usual rear triggers, while the front should be clean and all-screen. There would therefore be no analog controls in favor of a completely touch-based approach.

The technical details have not yet been revealed and leaks are cautious as well: for now there are rumors of an 8-inch display, a Dimensity chipset and a cooling system with a fan. In addition, a sizable battery should not be missing, but there are no clues on the actual dimensions.
