Xiaomi has its Password app, available with HyperOS 3 (but not for everyone)

The Chinese company has announced a new feature, currently available only for Chinese users. It is the new Password app integrated with HyperOS 3, nothing groundbreaking but certainly a welcome addition for Xiaomi enthusiasts – especially those who use multiple devices within the brand’s ecosystem.

The choice of Xiaomi follows a trend already well established for both iOS and Android: Apple and Google have their respective dedicated apps, namely Passwords and Password Manager. Nevertheless, the addition of software from the Chinese company is indicative: Xiaomi aims to offer a fully integrated ecosystem, with nothing left out.

The only detail is that, at the moment, this is a feature launched only in China: it remains to be seen whether and when it will arrive in our regions. As for how it works, Xiaomi’s Password does not reinvent the wheel compared to rivals: you can store passwords automatically on first login.

The app also supports manual addition and editing of the passwords already entered. Clearly, backups are tied to the brand account: simply change the device and log in to recover all saved data. Moreover, the application is compatible with both smartphones and tablets equipped with HyperOS 3 – the latest version of the brand’s interface.

Password synchronization is protected by end-to-end encryption, for secure management at all times. Nevertheless, cloud storage can also be disabled via the settings. Among other features are risk alerts (the app warns when passwords are weak) and a notification system that informs the user of every modification made – both in-app and via browser).

  • Xiaomi 17 Pro Max
  • Redmi K90

As the article already noted, the Password app is available only on HyperOS 3 and only for the Chinese market. It remains to be seen whether it will also arrive for Global and European software, so stay tuned for updates.
