The company founded by Carl Pei aims to expand its product ecosystem well beyond smartphones. Currently Nothing has several phones, a sub-brand (CMF), and a range of audio solutions—from in-ear, over-ear, and open-ear headphones; however, there is more coming. According to Bloomberg (so we’re talking about a highly credible source), Nothing is working on AI smart glasses: furthermore, the launch would not be that far away!
Having abandoned the XR headset sector, all major brands have thrown themselves into the challenge of smart glasses. This type of device has already tried an approach in the past, but the timing wasn’t right yet: now, however, it could be the right moment, especially given the commercial disappointment of headsets (too expensive and bulky for everyday use).
Apple could unveil its glasses by the end of the year, while work would be well underway at Samsung and Google. Now a new rival looms on the horizon: Nothing reportedly has AI smart glasses in the works, with a launch expected in the first half of 2027.
According to the Bloomberg report, the device would be equipped with microphone, speaker, and cameras. However, the display appears to be missing, but its absence wouldn’t be surprising since we’re talking about a hypothetical first-generation model.
The glasses would rely on a smartphone and the cloud to handle AI processing, so we’re talking about a solution with mobile connectivity. According to internal sources, initially Carl Pei opposed the idea but later changed his mind.
For now there are no clues about design and specs, but it’s hard not to take for granted a look similar to Nothing’s smartphones — characterized by a minimalist yet futuristic tech style.
