Although several weeks still remain until the announcement of the Xiaomi 17 series in Global version, in China the range has been official since last September and insiders are actively looking to the future. There are rumors of major changes in sight for Xiaomi 18 Pro, which could inherit an Ultra camera but with an additional improvement – maintaining compact dimensions.
The new rumors about Xiaomi 18 Pro arrive from the usual Digital Chat Station: the Chinese insider does not explicitly cite the device, but it is very likely that the object of the rumors is the brand’s future flagship.
The leak mentions a dual 200 MP camera, presumably the main sensor and the periscope telephoto lens; this is a feature that had already been associated with the top of the line (it was talked about in January) but now adds one detail.
Despite the better camera setup compared even to the current Xiaomi 17 Ultra (50 + 50 + 200 MP), the smartphone would maintain compact dimensions. That means a 6.3″ diagonal display, the same panel as Xiaomi 17 Pro.
At this point it remains to see if the rear display will be kept or will be exclusive to the higher-end 18 Pro Max. Lei Jun’s house has confirmed that the back display will return in the next generation, given the success generated by the feature.
Speaking of improvements, the news will also concern the smaller model in the series: the Xiaomi 18 standard should finally move to a periscope telephoto lens, now it remains to see if there will be at least a 200 MP sensor.
