Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra: here’s how many years your next flagship will live

The Barcelona MWC also marked the debut of the Chinese manufacturer’s new flagship devices: during the dedicated event, Lei Jun’s company presented Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone in Global version. A few days from launch, comes also the confirmation regarding the update policy for the entire series.

Through official channels the brand revealed that all three models will benefit from the new extended support. Therefore both the standard Xiaomi 17 and the flagship models Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone will receive up to 6 years of security updates: the support will end on February 28, 2032.

Unfortunately there are no indications regarding the OS version of the green Android robot. The three top-of-the-line models arrive with Android 16 so they should receive Android 20 as the latest release or Android 21. This detail has not been confirmed and consequently we base it on the Xiaomi 15T Pro policy (5 years of Android updates and 6 of security patches, indeed, leaving a margin of uncertainty).

Lei Jun’s company has enriched its ecosystem with the Xiaomi 17 series and the Xiaomi Pad 8 lineup, but the news are really many and include also a new smartwatch with Wear OS and the much-talked-about brand’s smart tag, the rival of AirTag 2!
