The Meta messaging app progressively enriches with new features: on one side there are the features that are actually implemented (the latest are the new Under-13 accounts) while on the other hand we have beta previews.
These latest ones often turn out to be quite interesting, even if unfortunately it’s not known when they will be implemented. Recently a new tab dedicated to contacts that shows the online users, at least for Android, has been spotted.
The software in question is the beta version labeled 2.26.13.3, available for smartphones running Google’s Android OS. As can be seen from the screenshot above (published by the WABetaInfo team), within the update a tab dedicated to contacts was found that shows a list of those currently online.
The focus, therefore, is on the active users: as much as it might seem like a small novelty, in reality for those who use WhatsApp regularly this could be a godsend. At the moment, to see if a contact is online, you have to open the chat with them and check the status at the top.
The new tab makes this process easier and allows you to quickly see all available users. For now, it seems the new tab is present in a section within Settings; its placement may seem counterintuitive (the purpose of the feature is immediacy), but it is worth noting that at the moment it is still a development-stage feature and could undergo changes during development.
