Nothing OS 5.0 and Android 17: which smartphones will receive the update?

With the release of the first beta versions of Android 17 it’s normal to wonder which smartphones will receive the update. In recent weeks we have seen both the likely candidates for Xiaomi and OnePlus, and now we continue with Nothing. The Carl Pei brand has not yet announced what the new features of the next version of its interface will be, but in the meantime we can already get an idea of the phones involved.

Which Nothing smartphones will receive the Android 17 update (with Nothing OS 5.0)

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro

Clearly what follows is not an official list, but a provisional rundown awaiting details from the company. Given the precedents, it’s likely that with Android 17 Nothing OS 5.0 will arrive: the company is following a fairly regular numbering and there are no hints that would suggest a major upheaval.

  • Nothing Phone (4a)
  • Nothing Phone (4a) Pro
  • Nothing Phone (3)
  • Nothing Phone (3a)
  • Nothing Phone (3a) Lite
  • Nothing Phone (3a) Pro
  • Nothing Phone (2a)
  • Nothing Phone (2a) Plus
  • CMF Phone 2 Pro

The list of devices is only missing three names: the first Phone (1) and Phone (2), together with CMF Phone 1. In all three cases the smartphones have reached the number of updates promised by Carl Pei’s company, so they will not receive any further updates (unless something unexpected happens).

When does Nothing OS 5.0 come out?

For now Nothing OS 5.0 does not yet have a release date: Android 17 in its stable version will arrive during the third quarter of the year, so there is still time before an announcement. The current version of Nothing’s software was announced last September, so it is not to be ruled out that this is the time window for the new release as well.
