The words of Yogesh Brar dropped like a bolt from the blue just a few hours ago, despite prior history. Although OnePlus has categorically denied similar rumors just two months ago, the detail with which the insider describes the withdrawal from the USA, the United Kingdom and Europe suggests a deep restructuring for the Never Settle brand — which could be sacrificed in some markets outside China.
This time the insider Yogesh Brar is speaking, a figure who would hardly expose himself to such an extreme level without concrete proof. We’re talking about a leaker often reliable, but clearly the final word always rests with the house of Pete Lau.
According to what the insider reported, OnePlus will shut its doors in some selected global markets. However there would be no repercussions on operations in China, which would continue without issues. Regarding the Indian market — the one of interest to Yogesh Brar’s users — it will mainly receive low- and mid-range products.
The post ends with a cryptic note: the leaker states that this is not good news for customers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. Consequently, it’s likely that among the excluded markets there could be either Europe or some countries.
Clearly we are only reporting the insider’s words, and at the time of writing there is neither a confirmation nor a denial from OnePlus. As usual in these cases, the rumors should be treated as rumors (and nothing more) until the brand involved issues an official statement.
At the end of January, the rumors of OnePlus closure began to surface: there was talk of an almost total global closure, even with OnePlus 16 as the Chinese market’s exclusive. In short, a real backtrack on an international scale, synonymous with a deep crisis for the company.
Among the clues in this sense were various, such as headquarters closed without notice (Dallas, March 2024) and important partnerships terminated (with operators like T-Mobile). We cited only two, but the sense is clear. Anyway, on that occasion OnePlus intervened with an official statement and a categorical denial.
