Cupertino doesn’t stop and keeps racing ahead of the product launch event. Instead of waiting for the designated date, Apple announced iPhone 17e and iPad Air with M4, and now more updates are coming for users seeking a premium laptop. Let’s discover all the details of the MacBook Pro of the latest generation, equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max.

As anticipated by rumors in recent months, the new MacBook Pro arrives with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, built with the innovative Fusion architecture that combines two dies in a single SoC to maximize performance. The new CPU boasts what Apple calls the fastest core in the world, delivering a user experience up to 30% faster in multi-thread workloads compared to the previous generation.

For those working on graphics and 3D modeling, the new-generation GPU introduces a Neural Accelerator in every single core, enabling AI performance up to 4x that of M4 models and as much as 8x faster than the M1 series. Such power allows running advanced language models and generating images via AI with maximum speed, making possible tasks that previously required fixed workstations.

Beyond raw compute power, Apple has doubled the efficiency of professional workflows by upgrading memory and storage. MacBook Pro now supports up to 128 GB of unified memory with a bandwidth reaching 614 GB/s in the M5 Max model, a key figure for those training AI models or working on large-scale video projects.

Storage has also received a significant upgrade: the new SSDs reach read and write speeds up to 14.5 GB/s, i.e., twice as fast as the previous generation, dramatically accelerating the handling of 4K and 8K video files. Great news for users is the increase in base storage, which now starts from 1 TB for models with M5 and M5 Pro and from 2 TB for the versions with M5 Max.

User experience is complemented by top-tier hardware and software. The Liquid Retina XDR display, also available with the nanotexture option to reduce reflections, offers a peak HDR brightness of 1,600 nits, while the battery provides up to 24 hours of autonomy.

On the connectivity front, the new wireless N1 chip introduces support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, ensuring more stable and faster connections, paired with three Thunderbolt 5 ports. The software side centers on macOS Tahoe, which introduces new Apple Intelligence features and a redesigned interface with Liquid Glass elements.

Prices and availability

The new models will be available in Space Black and Silver colors, with pre-orders opening on March 4 and actual availability in stores starting Wednesday March 11.

Regarding starting prices, the 14″ model with M5 Pro starts from €2,599, while the 16″ version with the same chip is available from €3,099. For professionals who need the maximum power, MacBook Pro 14″ with M5 Max starts from €4,299, reaching €4,599 for the 16″ version.
