After the beta phase from the past few weeks, Apple has begun releasing iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4: the update is currently rolling out to all affected devices. Unfortunately, the new Siri is missing from the lineup: the assistant will be completely renewed with iOS 27 (the WWDC dates have been revealed recently) while in upcoming software releases Apple should begin introducing some intelligent features.

- The Ambient Music widget for Sleep, Relax, Productivity and Wellness brings selected playlists to the Home screen

- The ‘Reduce Bright Effects’ setting reduces bright flashes when you touch elements like buttons
- The subtitles and captions settings are available from the dedicated icon when viewing multimedia content, making them easier to find, customize, and preview.
- The ‘Reduce Motion’ setting more reliably reduces Liquid Glass animations for users sensitive to motion on the screen.
- This update also includes the following improvements:
- 8 new emojis, including an orca, a trombone, a landslide, a dancer and a distorted face, are available on the emoji keyboard
- Freeform gains advanced tools for creating and editing images and a library of premium content, joining Apple Creator Studio
- Flag reminders as urgent from the Quick Actions bar or by long-pressing, and filter urgent reminders in your Smart Lists
- Purchase sharing allows adult members in Family Sharing groups to use their own payment method when making purchases, without having to rely on the family organizer
- Keyboard precision improved during rapid typing
- Widget support for CarPlay
