Rumors about Xiaomi’s tracker have been circulating for a long time, and now it seems that 2026 will be the right year. Perhaps it’s due to the release of the new AirTag 2 or perhaps it’s just a coincidence, but finally Xiaomi Tag is on track to launch. The well-known insider Roland Quandt reveals it with plenty of images, several details about how it works and even a tasty preview of the price.
If you think the Cupertino tracker is too expensive, you can sleep easy because the Chinese rival will debut at a rock-bottom price.
The new smart tag has appeared in various online stores, and even Xiaomi’s French division has opened a dedicated page. Here the price is listed: 17,99€ for a single device and 59,99€ for the four-pack of Xiaomi Tag. Practically it would be €15 for each unit, less than half the Cupertino model.
The design is refined and elegant, with a white chassis and a metallic frame useful for attaching it. The device features the Bluetooth 5.4 and the NFC but there is no mention of Ultra-Wideband (UWB). The latter enables precise localization of rivals AirTag and Galaxy SmartTag, so it seems odd that it is absent.
Could be a store error, or it is plausible to think that two versions are planned. Xiaomi Tag is compatible with both Android and iOS and works with Google’s Find Hub services and Apple’s Find My. The tracker’s dimensions are slim and compact, with a thickness of 7.2 mm and an autonomy of about a year — powered by the usual CR2032 button battery. For now there is no date yet, but it is likely the debut is just around the corner.
The latest news from Lei Jun’s house continues with Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra: the two top-of-the-line models are expected by the end of February or at the Barcelona MWC at the latest. There will also be other additions such as the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro and the new Xiaomi Electric Scooter 6 line of electric scooters.
