We are awaiting the debut of Xiaomi’s new flagship devices for global markets, but in the meantime many details about other upcoming novelties emerge. Among the many high-profile names (smartwatches and tablets) there is room for a pair of ultra-cheap earbuds: the new Redmi Buds 8 Active are the subject of a substantial leak, with images and prices for Europe.
As already seen in the past, the Active model sits a little below the latest Lite variant: the Redmi Buds 8 Lite were announced in January with a colorful design and ANC, at only €22. The upcoming Redmi Buds 8 Active would partly mirror the features of the latter: the case seems unchanged and the same goes for the stem and the colors (Black, White and Blue).
The part that changes is the upper part of the earbuds, which moves from the in-ear format of the Lite variant to a semi in-ear wearability semi in-ear. The TWS Active would mount dynamic drivers with a titanium diaphragm of 14.2 mm and would offer support for the AAC codec, AI noise reduction (with a dual microphone), wind noise cancellation up to 6 m/s and Google Fast Pair.
Among other features we have Bluetooth 5.4, 37 mAh batteries for the earbuds and 475 mAh for the case, along with a USB-C port for charging. In terms of autonomy, around 7 hours of playback and up to 37 hours using the case.
As for the price, the Redmi Buds 8 Lite should cost only €19.9 but it remains to be seen whether this will be the final figure for Italy.
