9,000 mAh in a compact body: will it be the challenge for the Honor 600

Honor is pushing the battery life accelerator: moving from 8,000 to 9,000 mAh while keeping compact dimensions seems like a titan’s undertaking, considering that many manufacturers still struggle to surpass 5,500 mAh.

The Chinese brand has already managed the feat: just take a look at the new ‘experimental’ devices Win and Power 2, but it seems titan batteries will also be part of the Honor 600 series – arriving also in our latitudes.

Honor 600 could have a gigantic battery, in a compact body

The Honor 600 series carries an important hint for us: it is very likely that the Chinese brand will skip Honor 500 in Global version, bringing us directly the next generation. The proof is the existence of Honor 600 Lite, certified: in general Lite models are part of the Western lineup and so far no 500 Lite has been announced.

Returning to the new range, the Chinese insider Digital Chat Station hints at two novelties compared to the current models. First, there would be a slight increase in display size: nothing crazy, but Honor 600 would move from the current 6,55″ to 6,57″.

A Battery Phone with bells and whistles

The other addition will surely have a bigger impact, given that there are whispers of as much as 9.000 mAh battery, an exaggerated capacity for a phone with compact dimensions. The same 500 series debuted with the beauty of 8.000 mAh, so this feature is now intrinsic to the DNA of the lineup.

Time will tell how things will change with Honor 600 Global: given the precedents — due to the limitations of European legislations — we can assume the battery will be toned down.

Release window

At the moment there are no “confirmations” either on the specs or on the release date. Given the precedents, it is likely that Honor 600 Lite will see the light in April while the 600 and 600 Pro brothers could arrive shortly after, during the month of May. Clearly this is our hypothesis based on the timing of the 400 generation, launched in Italy in the first half of last year.
