For Lei Jun’s company, the new year starts with Redmi: the first Xiaomi smartphone equipped with a super battery of 9,000 mAh has been officially confirmed — after months of rumors.
The new Redmi Turbo 5 Max will be the company’s first Battery Phone, keeping a slim profile and a design that could be described as fairly “standard”.
In the past days, fake images circulated showing a resemblance to the iPhone Air and an acceptable final result. However, these turned out to be fake, and Redmi Turbo 5 Max will arrive with a design that has already been tested for the series.
The device is equipped with a dual camera housed in a capsule vertical module, paired with the LED flash. The style is almost identical to that of Turbo 4 and 4 Pro, so nothing new on the aesthetics front. On board the first Max of the Turbo family is the Dimensity 9500s, the latest high-end SoC from MediaTek — capable of standing out for a solid Antutu score.
The Redmi smartphone was the protagonist of the battery’s early tests: we’re talking about almost 15 hours of autonomy with standard use, a result in line with what Honor Win RT achieved on the same platform. Remember that the latter is equipped with a 10,000 mAh — compared to the 9,000 mAh of Turbo 5 Max — so the result Xiaomi achieves would be truly excellent.
The China release of Redmi Turbo 5 Max is expected by the end of the month; however, there is good news for us as well. The phone should reach our markets as the POCO X8 Pro Max, certified with its trade name.
