2026 has only just begun, and one of the year-end prophecies has already come true. Spotify Premium price increases in the USA (and in other countries), with a rise in the music streaming subscription service – which affects all plans.
Unfortunately, this is a trend that has become widely established: after more than a decade without adjustments, in recent years the music platform has seen a progressive price increase – a trend that began in 2023.
With a brief message to users in the United States, Estonia and Lithuania, the Spotify team has launched the new price increases for the Premium subscription. The hypothesis of the price hikes had emerged last November, following a report published by Financial Times.
According to the company, occasional price increases reflect the value offered by Spotify. Returning to the report from previous months, at that time other reasons were cited – with pressure from the major record labels.
However, starting from February the price of Spotify Premium rises from $11.99 to $12.99 for the single plan, with increases also for the Duo and Family subscriptions – which rise to $18.99 and $21.99 respectively.
| Plan | Italy price (per month) | USA price (per month) | NEW USA PRICE |
| Individual | €11.99 | $11.99 | $12.99 |
| Duo | €16.99 | $16.99 | $18.99 |
| Family | €20.99 | $19.99 | $21.99 |
At this point it’s not hard to imagine what will happen in the coming months. It’s very likely that the increases will also reach our region, with prices aligned to those of the US market. It remains to be seen whether they’ll hit us as early as this year or if we’ll have to wait until 2027.
Obviously, for now this remains only a hypothesis and there is no official confirmation, so we await future updates for Italy.
