Want smart glasses, but Meta’s prices are too high? Rokid has you covered

The market for smart glasses is probably experiencing its best period yet, dominated by the partnership between Meta and Ray-Ban.

However, for many consumers, the price and the closed ecosystem of the Zuckerberg empire still represent a significant entry barrier.

It is in this space that Rokid’s new offering enters, with the global launch of its AI Glasses Style, aiming to democratize this technology.

Strategically priced at $299, these glasses do not try to imitate the competition in a dull, unoriginal way, but offer a ‘classic’ usage philosophy, focusing on lightness and voice assistance rather than augmented reality.

What really distinguishes the Rokid AI Glasses Style is the incredible density of technology hidden in a design that looks, in every sense, traditional.

Inside we find the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Connectivity is cutting-edge thanks to support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, ensuring fast and stable data exchange.

There is no display, but the imaging system seems capable of defending itself well: the device mounts a Sony IMX681 sensor of 12 MP with a focal aperture of f/2.25 and a field of view of 109 degrees.

This allows capturing sharp and vivid first-person photos and videos (FPV), supported by HDR technologies and image stabilization, with a depth of field that ranges from 34 cm to infinity.

The audio experience is entrusted to two directional AAC speakers optimized for privacy: the sound is clear for the wearer of the glasses, but almost imperceptible to those nearby, ideal for calls or AI responses.

All of it is powered by a 210 mAh battery which, thanks to system efficiency, guarantees up to 12 hours of typical use. For those who need more energy, Rokid has planned a modular charging ecosystem that includes an optional 3000 mAh case and an additional 1700 mAh battery capsule.

The engineering choice to remove the display has allowed Rokid to focus on wearability. Built from TR90, a thermoplastic material known for its elastic memory and resilience, the glasses weigh just 38.5 grams.

The frame is described as “ultra-flexible”, designed to fit gently on the face without applying excessive pressure on the nose and ears, thanks also to nose pads and temples designed for prolonged use. This structural lightness makes the device suitable to be worn all day.

Plenty of AI and Tailor-Made Lenses

The Rokid AI Glasses Style are born as a voice-first productivity tool, eliminating the distraction of screens.

The software integration is ambitious: the system promises instant and natural responses, powered even by advanced models such as ChatGPT 5.

Through four directional microphones, the user can activate real-time translation to break down language barriers, obtain step-by-step navigation directions, or request immediate recognition of surrounding objects.

Particularly useful for professionals is the AI Meeting Notes feature, capable of turning meetings into clear and concise summaries, ready to be shared.

Finally, Rokid demonstrates that these devices must be primarily good corrective glasses. The company has launched a precision-lens service that claims to be the world’s first in this category, offering unprecedented customization.

AI Glasses Style support complex prescriptions, handling severe myopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia with corrections up to ±15.00 diopters.

With over 200 color options and the ability to mount progressive or photochromic lenses, Rokid offers a product that does not force the user to choose between visual sharpness and smart features, presenting itself as a complete and accessible solution.
