Honor shows no signs of slowing down; the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design appears in early images

There is no let-up for Honor’s labs, which seem to be working at full speed to expand the newborn Magic 8 family.

If until a few days ago media attention was almost exclusively focused on the “Air” model, the slim and light variant of the series, new rumors shift the spotlight upwards, aiming directly at the top of the range.

In recent hours, in fact, the first real image of what is shaping up to be the brand’s most exclusive device has emerged online: the Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design.

The image leaked on Chinese social media, which appears to be official promotional material, depicts the entire Magic 8 family.

In this group shot, the eye inevitably falls on the bottom-left corner, where the new RSR model appears. The first feature that catches the eye is the color choice: the device comes in a pale violet shade, elegant and distinctive, which departs from the more traditional colorways.

Even more interesting is the evolution of the design language compared to previous generations. Honor seems to have abandoned the classic circular or hexagonal camera module in favor of a defined form called “squircle”, a square with strongly rounded corners, that houses the sensors.

This camera island is not just a functional element, but becomes the centerpiece of the rear design, giving the smartphone a bold and professional look, in line with the sporty and luxurious DNA typical of the collaboration with the Porsche Design studio.

A camera system without compromises?

Under the hood, the technical specs suggest that the aggressive aesthetics are supported by top-tier imaging power. Rumors confirm the presence of three sensors, with the leading role entrusted to the 50 MP main camera.

This latter should integrate a 1-inch sensor developed in-house, equipped with variable aperture: a solution that promises to offer depth-of-field control and lighting management comparable to compact cameras.

However, it is the telephoto lens that generates the greatest interest among enthusiasts. There is talk of a 200 MP periscope camera with an f/2.6 aperture and an equivalent focal length of 85 mm. To complete the circle there should be a third module, presumably dedicated to ultra-wide shots, to guarantee maximum versatility in any shooting scenario.

Power and endurance

To handle such a volume of visual data, Honor doesn’t seem to have spared on internal components. The Magic8 RSR Porsche Design will likely be equipped with the chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite.

This platform, paired with a RAM allocation that could reach the incredible threshold of 24 GB, would position the device at the absolute top of Android performance charts, ensuring fluidity not only in daily use but also in the more demanding video editing and gaming tasks.

Equally impressive is the battery life data. Despite the dimensions expected to be compact for a flagship, the device should integrate a 7,200 mAh battery. Supporting this enormous energy reserve will be a 120W fast charging, capable of minimizing waiting times.

With a rumored China launch date for January 19, the wait to see this new incarnation of tech luxury up close is short. Honor seems ready to prove that even in the high-end segment, there is still room to wow.
