After the usual slew of rumors – between images and chatter about the specs – there is official confirmation at last. Honor Magic 8 Pro Air will be announced in China on the 19 January as the brand’s first ultra-thin smartphone. The company’s first teaser shows the profile of the phone, confirming both the slim thickness and the new camera design.
As the name suggests, the inspiration for the Honor Magic 8 Pro Air is the recent iPhone Air: Apple’s ultrathin is in the minds of the Chinese company since the launch of Honor 500 and now it seems intent on doing the same. Although several days remain until the phone’s release, Honor appears confident of its success.
In fact, in a post on the Chinese social network Weibo, one of the executives emphasized the brand’s long-term commitment in the ultrathin category – despite user hesitation toward this new product segment. Indeed it’s no secret that current ultraslims have not achieved the hoped-for success: we’ll see if things change as new models are announced.
Awaiting the official debut, here is the alleged specifications of Honor’s new smartphone – to be taken with caution. Also at the moment there is talk only of a launch in China and unfortunately we still don’t know if the Air model will make it to Europe as well.
