The launch of POCO’s X-series smartphones is becoming increasingly tangible, and a surprise new device has now surfaced. POCO X8 Pro Max will arrive in international markets: the phone has been certified recently, and it’s a first for Xiaomi’s partner brand.
It appears that the Pro Max designation is the new trend of the moment, and we’ll need to see if it continues to gain traction in the landscape of Chinese companies.
According to what has emerged, the new POCO X8 Pro should be a rebrand of Redmi Turbo 5, arriving in China soon. The device is also available in Iron Man Edition, signaling that the Marvel collaboration will continue into the next generation. The device is expected to offer a high-capacity battery of 9,000 mAh, but we know very little for now.
This year the series is set to double up, aiming high, with POCO X8 Pro Max: the device appeared in a certification with the code 2602BPC18G (Global) and 2602BPC18I (India), complete with the commercial name – leaving no doubt. In this case too it would be a rebrand, apparently of Redmi Turbo 5 Pro – another new model coming to China in the next weeks.
There are still doubts about POCO X8 standard: the current X7 is a rebrand of Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G Chinese and consequently we can hypothesize that the new model of the X series will be a remake of Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G Chinese. For accuracy we should note that the new smartphones in the Note family are expected to change several details as they move to Global markets.
Since Apple introduced the Pro Max designation — starting from iPhone 11 — the Chinese brands have been relatively quiet. However this year there has been a real explosion to align with the American rival (worse than usual).
To stay on topic with Xiaomi, Lei Jun’s company first announced the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and then Redmi K90 Pro Max; with the arrival of POCO X8 Pro Max we are at the third smartphone to use this name, but the only one marketed in the West.
In 2020 Redmi Note 9 Pro Max was announced Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, a device that never officially arrived in Italy. Still, in this case it is a mid-range while the new models belong to the premium or high-end segment.
