Redmi seems to have set a new goal for the future: to create the definitive battery-phone thanks to an ultra-capacious silicon-carbon battery, but also extremely slim. This is what emerges from the latest leaks arriving directly from China, where the Xiaomi partner company would already have started testing these new units.
Redmi, according to the latest rumors, would be working on a revolutionary phone, equipped with a battery over 8,500 mAh. But the real surprise wouldn’t be just the capacity: the company is reportedly able to keep the device thickness below 8.5 mm. A truly remarkable result, considering that many phones with much smaller batteries measure the same, or even more. This enormous capacity would exceed by almost 1,000 mAh that of the recent Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, which already boasts a substantial battery of 7,550 mAh.
Behind this innovation there is the promising silicon-carbon battery technology, which has seen greater adoption in China this year. Unlike traditional graphite-based batteries, which reach about 372 mAh/g, silicon-based materials can theoretically reach 4200 mAh/g. Silicon also offers better lithium storage capacity, contributing to higher energy density and better safety during charging, avoiding the buildup of lithium that can lead to short circuits.
