Introduced for the first time with Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung’s Privacy Display could become a recurring feature of the S lineup, but not for all models. According to a report from South Korea, the feature would be destined for Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra, while it would be excluded from Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+ and Galaxy S27 FE.
Galaxy S27 Pro Privacy Display: how it would work and which models would have it
The report, however, contradicts a previous rumor that the Privacy Display would have been extended to the entire Galaxy S27 family: at the moment, it is not yet clear which version is correct.
From a technical standpoint, the feature is based on Samsung Display’s OLED Flex Magic Pixel panels, which integrate a higher black matrix above half of the pixels to prevent light from dispersing laterally and make the screen unreadable from angles other than the front-facing one. Users can enable or disable the feature on the entire display, or apply it selectively only to specific apps and notifications.
The COE (Color Filter-on-Encapsulation) technology complements the Privacy Display, eliminating the traditional polarizer layer. By integrating polarization directly into the thin-film encapsulation, this solution reduces the overall thickness of the panel.
Besides smartphones, Samsung is reportedly considering bringing the Privacy Display to future Galaxy Book laptops, but at the moment there are no additional details on this possibility.
When does the Galaxy S27 series launch?
According to the report, the four models of the Galaxy S27 lineup are expected in early 2027, with Galaxy S27 FE following in the middle of the same year. On the Pro and Ultra models, the Privacy Display would be paired with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, a 200 MP main camera and a 16 MP front camera.
The launch is expected in February, as with the current generation. While waiting to learn more (perhaps officially), we flag the latest news on the series: the alleged protective covers seem to ‘confirm’ the look change, but not for all models.
