Here’s Xiaomi SkyNomad, the giant (and modular) SUV for maximum comfort

After the debut of the first electric sedan SU7 and the YU7 SUV (accompanied by their respective “track” versions), Lei Jun’s company announced a new series of vehicles. It is the Xiaomi SkyNomad line, with EREV propulsion (extended-range autonomy), a lineup focused on maximum comfort for the user.

How? Through a system of interiors that can be modified in real time: the car’s cabin comes to life and transforms into a play space, a living room, a study… in short, there are no limits to its usefulness!

Initially Xiaomi limited itself to announcing the debut of the SkyNomad brand, while in recent hours the social media profiles of the automotive division have been enriched with further details. Externally, the vehicle presents itself as an enormous SUV: the dimensions are much larger than those of Xiaomi YU7, with straight and angular lines. The shape of the vehicle is decidedly not sporty compared to the already mentioned YU7 model and the sedan SU7.

The company behind Lei Jun defined the car as an “intelligent SUV with expandable space”, a concept that is best expressed by looking at the interior. The entire aesthetics of the car is centered on the cabin: this space is shown as modular, with the possibility to move seats and elements, changing the layout according to the moment’s needs.

According to what Xiaomi reports, the interior can be used as a study, a café corner, a small meeting room and even a play space for the family. A car that is not only to drive, therefore, but to live in a tangible and complete way, through an experience that aims at versatility and comfort.

The vehicle is expected to appear in two versions, the larger one featuring 7 seats and a slightly smaller one, with 5 seats. Continuing with rumors, Xiaomi SkyNomad is expected to debut as N90 and offer an electric motor paired with a 1.5-liter turbo range extender.

Among other features is a battery pack above 70 kWh (for an electric range of 400/500 km and a combined range of over 1,500 km). The length should be around 5.3 meters, with a wheelbase of 3.1 meters.

Details about the release are still missing, but it is likely that more details (between official confirmations and leaks) will surface to clarify all aspects of the new extra-large SUV.
