Samsung won’t abandon rugged tablets: Galaxy Tab Active 6 is on the way

The Samsung-branded rugged tablet series isn’t finished: two and a half years after the last non-Pro version, talk about the Active series returns. The Asian manufacturer would be working on the next Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 6, coming soon with 5G connectivity. The first details have surfaced online and clearly we can expect a tablet built for maximum durability!

Design and technical specifications are still a mystery, yet there is already some information about the release. If, on the one hand, the good news is that the series is alive and kicking, on the other hand there will be a wait. Samsung would actually be working on the Galaxy Tab Active 6, but the debut should take place in early 2027.

Based on what has leaked so far, the device will support 5G (as with Tab Active 5 and 5 Pro), it will arrive in various international markets and its model number is SM-X316B. This latter detail is crucial because it allows us to locate the tablet in the databases of certifying authorities and on benchmarking platforms.

A look at the possible hardware

Unfortunately, as noted above, there are no details about the aesthetics or hardware. We can certainly expect an aggressive look like current models; there will certainly be IP68 waterproofing and MIL-STD-810H military durability certification.

It’s likely that Samsung will keep compact dimensions for the future Galaxy Tab Active 6 as well, with an 8″ diagonal display with an advanced refresh rate and S Pen support. Let’s hope for a larger battery than the current 5,050 mAh, while for the chipset we are looking at a proprietary solution.

Tab Active 5 was launched with the Exynos 1380, so the successor could have an Exynos 1480, recently seen on board a Galaxy A57.
