OnePlus ready to challenge the kings of low-cost with the new N series

Despite the crisis atmosphere, the OnePlus expansion push shows no signs of slowing, but this time the company’s focus isn’t aimed at flagship devices. After refreshing the mid-range lineup, the company seems intent on completely overhauling its most affordable offering with a new line of low-budget phones.

With the success of the main lineup, the company of Pete Lau and Carl Pei has begun considering new ways to expand. Not only accessories and tablets, but also lines more affordable than the classic top-of-the-line models—often offered anyway at very good prices.

The result has been the OnePlus Nord series (reaching its sixth chapter, Nord 6 was announced recently), followed by the Nord CE line (Nord CE 6 and CE 6 Lite were announced in May). Between the two there was also room for the Nord N family, characterized by entry-level and mid-to-low-end phones.

Between 2020 and 2024, as many as seven smartphones belonging to this latter category were launched, some of which were also distributed in Italy. It should be noted that the main reference market has always been North America, so only some of the early devices found space here.

According to the latest rumors from insider Yogesh Brar, the company intends to relaunch its budget series. The official name should be OnePlus N, thus without the Nord designation; according to the leaker, it would be an entire family of smartphones, with several price ranges.

The strategy would be particularly aggressive, at least regarding the Indian market: prices below 20,000 rupees, about €181 at the current exchange rate. The debut of the new models is expected for the month of July even though we have some uncertainty about the release in our latitudes. The source focuses on India, so it’s likely that at least initially the N series will not arrive in Europe.
