OPPO Reno 16 and 16 Pro Officially Announced, with the OPPO Bubble Mini Selfie Display!

The brand’s most stylish series welcomes two new additions, currently for the Chinese market 20 3 but we are sure we will hear a lot about the Global versions very soon. OPPO Reno 16 and 16 Pro don’t reinvent anything, but they continue to offer an elegant and refined design, 200 MP cameras and plenty of battery, this time with the playful addition of Bubble 20 3 a handy rear mini display to use for high-quality selfies.

The design of OPPO Reno 16 and the bigger brother doesn’t stray too far from that of the Reno 15 family: we find a Squircle camera module and shimmering color options, while the front features a flat screen with a punch-hole for the selfie camera. Both are equipped with a customizable AI Button, positioned along the left edge, useful for invoking AI-related functions.

The standard model is the compact one of the pair, with a 6.32″ diagonal display, a 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 3,600 nits of brightness. As is customary, the series is powered by a MediaTek chipset; starting with the Dimensity 8550 Super, an updated version of the previous 8500 (with CPU and GPU identical, but internal improvements).

Autonomy is entrusted to a 6,700 mAh battery, with support for 80W wired charging. Security relies on the usual optical under-display fingerprint reader, while the rating becomes IP69K, giving resistance to high-pressure water jets.

The camera setup is based on the 200 MP Samsung HP5 main sensor, supported by a 50 MP ultra-wide and a 50 MP periscope telephoto (Samsung JN5). For selfies there is a 50 MP front camera with autofocus.

OPPO Reno 16 price starts from 3,499 yuan, about €442 at the current exchange rate 20 3 for the 12/256 GB version. The top model with 16 GB/1 TB reaches 4,899 yuan, about €618 at the exchange rate.

The bigger brother OPPO Reno 16 Pro is aimed at users who want more, both in terms of performance and display. The AMOLED panel rises to 6.78″ diagonal, offering a larger viewing area than the base version.

The chipset is the Dimensity 9500s, a mid-to-high-end solution comparable to the former flagship Dimensity 9400+: built on 3 nm, it can reach 3.73 GHz while the Immortalis G925 GPU supports ray tracing.

The real battery champion is this one, with its 7,000 mAh: wired charging remains at 80W while this time there is the addition of wireless charging (50W). Apart from these details, the rest of the features remain the same 20 3 including the camera system.

OPPO Reno 16 Pro price starts from 3,699 yuan, about €467 at the current exchange rate, up to a maximum of 4,799 yuan (around €606).

The Chinese company has also announced OPPO Bubble: it is a rear mini display with a magnetic mount, 7 mm thick and weighing about 27.5 grams. The color AMOLED touchscreen can be customized with personalized backgrounds (images and videos), emojis and themes; in this way the accessory becomes an aesthetic addition to the phone’s design.

Its main use remains a display for selfies: it connects to the smartphone and can be used to look at yourself during a selfie with the main camera. It also functions as a remote shutter button, so it does not need to remain attached to the device to work; in fact the gadget includes a 550 mAh battery.

Bubble works with the Reno 16 series and earlier, including the Find X9 top models. Clearly the magnetic mount is designed for Apple devices, while for other OPPO devices you need to use a case with a magnetic ring.

And the global launch?

According to the latest rumors, the Reno 16 series should debut in India during the month of July. Moreover, it seems there will be as many as four models 20 3 Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, Reno 16 Pro Mini and Reno 16c 20 3 in line with the current generation.

These are Global devices but for Europe the story is different: in our case, we expect the Reno 16 and 16 Pro, together with the variant Reno 16 F / FS (the latter already featured in a certification). As usual, the mid-range rollouts across markets are confusing and the phones that could surface in our latitude should have some different characteristics.

To get an idea, just take a look at the Chinese Reno 15 and the Italian Reno 15.
