An upcoming launch event dedicated to OPPO Reno 16 and 16 Pro: the two devices will debut in China, but it is very likely they will also surface globally (at a later stage). While waiting to learn more about the international release, we finally discover the design of the series. Initially, a shift in direction was expected, but it seems the Asian company has decided to opt for a proven aesthetic.
OPPO Reno 16 and 16 Pro in official images: here is the design of the new series

Analleged live photo hinted at a change of look for the series, with a hypothetical OnePlus 15-style design. The reality, however, is different: the company has published the official images of the new smartphones, with an aesthetic very close to the current one. OPPO Reno 16 and 16 Pro are equipped with a squared camera module, housing a triple-sensor setup and the LED flash.
The final result is almost identical to the design of OPPO Reno 15, simply the new range distances the third sensor and the flash. The color options do not introduce major novelties but stay in the manufacturer’s comfort zone, with the vibrant Galaxy Purple (Reno 16) and Dream Blue (Reno 16 Pro), a white Heartbeat Star version equally shiny, and the sober Midnight Black. The last two are shared by both phones.

The official store has also confirmed memory configurations: the base version will arrive in configurations of 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, 16/256 GB, 16/512 GB and 16 GB/1 TB; the bigger Pro brother will debut with 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB and 16/512 GB.
The launch in China is set for the 25 May while the specs are still uncertain. According to leaks, we should have two smartphones differing in size, namely from 6.32″ and 6.78″. Both would rely on MediaTek chipsets, namely the Dimensity 8550 and 9500s.
The batteries would also change, with capacities of 6,700 mAh and 7,000 mAh, both with 80W charging. However OPPO Reno 16 Pro would have the edge with support for 50W wireless charging. There are rumors of a triple camera setup of 200 + 50 + 50 MP with a Samsung HP5 main sensor, ultra-wide, and a periscope telephoto lens.
