In May, Xiaomi will hold a new event in China, presenting several important novelties. Among these, Lei Jun’s company has hinted at the launch of a pair of earbuds and promises “a surprising new product”. The first teaser image reveals part of the design, but digging around the web, a detail has emerged that completes the picture: these will be the first Xiaomi earbuds with a clip design, in the style of Huawei FreeClip.
Xiaomi teases the debut of its first open-ear clip earbuds: here is the possible design

The Chinese brand is not new to the open-ear format: in 2024 it announced the TWS Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo, followed by a Pro version launched last year. However, the new earbuds should offer a completely new design for the manufacturer, with a clip-style that would recall the iconic Huawei FreeClip (now in its second chapter) and the more recent Honor Choice Earbus Clip.
As we write, Xiaomi has limited itself to showing only a part of the new earbuds, not revealing anything else. Nevertheless, on the Chinese social network Weibo, images have surfaced showing the clip design of the earbuds.

Open-ear earbuds are characterized by an open format: they do not enter the ear canal, leaving it completely free. In this way the user can listen to music and make calls without isolating themselves from the external environment, a useful feature in the office, while driving and in other situations that require it.
In the case of clip models, the audio technology blends with the aesthetics of an earring: the Huawei FreeClip are equipped with two modules (Comfort Bean and Acoustic Ball) held together by the C-Bridge component. The final effect is that of a kind of clip-on earring, with the Comfort Bean adhering to and adapting perfectly to the curves and shape of the ear and a sonic sphere that sits in front of the concha and houses the audio drivers.
Anyway, not long to go: the launch event is set for May, so it seems certain that in the coming days the brand will start showing the design and features of the new earbuds (as already happened with Xiaomi 17 Max and Smart Band 10 Pro).
