The Redmi Note 17 series will bring a cooling fan and a 10,000 mAh battery to mid-range

The current mid-range segment is enjoying a particularly thriving period thanks to high-performance chipsets and silicon-carbon batteries, capable of dramatically increasing capacity without negative consequences on the phone’s size. The gap between mid-to-high-end models and flagships is no longer as abyssal as it used to be, with the main battleground now playing out in the field of cameras.

Xiaomi has already shown on various occasions to be receptive to certain changes and, according to the latest rumors, the Redmi Note 17 series could really shake things up.

Xiaomi would have big plans for the Redmi Note 17 lineup: the latest news talk about a Battery Phone with gaming aspirations

As usual, the rumors come thanks to the insider Digital Chat Station who, on this occasion, proves cautious. The leaker does not explicitly mention the Redmi Note 17 family, but — as the saying goes — a word to the wise is enough. Currently several Chinese brands have launched their respective 10,000 mAh solutions, but Xiaomi remains silent.

For now Lei Jun’s company has pushed up to 9,000 mAh with Redmi Turbo 5 Max (the POCO X8 Pro Max twin offers 8,500 mAh) but we know that the plans foresee something much more.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max should be the brand’s first smartphone with a 10,000 mAh battery, and this won’t be its only standout feature. There is talk of a screen around 7″ diagonal and a 200 MP camera, for a mid-to-high-end device that clearly aims at the top.

And now Digital Chat Station teases Mi Fans further: Redmi K90 Max will debut on April 21 with an integrated cooling fan, but Xiaomi would be considering bringing this feature to the mid-range as well. Clearly the most likely candidate is the already mentioned Redmi Note 17 Pro Max.

We can assume that the Global model will arrive cut down, at least on the battery side (due to current legislation); despite that, the integrated fan could be a killer feature not to underestimate internationally, with a market increasingly open to features that lean toward gaming.

Anyway there will be quite a wait: likely the China debut will take place in August while the Global version will have to wait even longer.
